See-LEVEL Testimonials
Over the last two years, we have been testing See-LEVEL on a variety of different vessels in varying sea conditions from inshore waters to the deep Southern Oceans. Here is a small collection of our seasick passengers comments…

Sea-Level approached The Chamber at an early stage with a very innovative idea to cure seasickness. After helping the team to engage support through Callaghan Innovation, Sea-Level was able to take that idea through to a highly effective and commercially viable solution

I think it’s a practical option for passengers especially those who also love gadgets and shows the company’s technology advanced position. Passengers don’t want to use medicine in general. It worked and they went away happy
I will offer you a pill, a patch or try See-LEVEL for ½ hour. Don’t need to be in the medical room. It would defiantly be listed on the list of amenities to offer passengers on the boat.

I was asked to test the VR product for Motion Research during a sailing trip from Lyttelton to Akaroa. I have always enjoyed sailing but it has been limited due to the fact that it does not take much for me to get seasick. Even though it was a reasonably calm day, I started to get seasick after we got out into the heads. On a scale of 0% being feeling perfect to 100% being completely seasick and violently ill, after feeling 40% seasick for 20 minutes, I tried on the See Level device which after 5 minutes got my seasick level down to 10%. I kept the device on for 20 minutes, my level of seasickness varied from 5% to 10%. When you are feeling seasick you look for an instant fix, See Level provided this. It is an invaluable device to have on board

I was given a headset with See-level and after listening to the instructions on how to help and deal with seasickness after 15 mins of using the headset it was like I had never known been sick or light headed at all. My pulse went down to 90bpm from 119 bpm and I felt calm and relaxed

“See level helped me feel calm. It Helped my nausea after a couple minutes, stopped me feeling dizzy. It gave me less anxiety and took my mind off the feeling, which gave me my confidence back to enjoy the rest of the journey”

My experience out with the team at motion works was fantastic, going into it I had no idea how it could impact me, now I feel like I can take on even the roughest situations on the water. Trying out the products they can offer to resolve such matters of simply improving situations sometimes unbearable to a quiet comfortable environment is like no other. This would now be a necessity without a second guess

On Friday, 15 February 2019, aboard SV Wayward (34 foot yawl) on a passage motor-sailing against 6-8 knot breeze in a sloppy sea from Lyttelton to Akaroa, one middle-aged male passenger felt progressively more nauseous. We had on board a Virtual Reality headset provided by Motion Research which the afflicted passenger donned and – following operating instructions – wore for about 20 minutes. The passenger reported early and definite relief. He was able to remove the gear and resume his position on deck for the duration of the voyage, even taking the helm for our arrival at French Bay, Akaroa

In terms of feeling ill, most people want to feel safe, secure and warm. I was a real fan of the warm scenes which were portrayed in the screen, particularly with the camp fire, inviting tent, and other points of interest. Calming music was also a key. would be a very useful tool on larger cruise and expedition voyages, particularly those cruises heading out to more intrepid destinations such as Antarctica. My understanding is that on these voyages when it is very rough for safety reasons there can be much time spent in cabins, where it is quite likely that seasickness would rare its ugly head. This device would certainly be beneficial!

I was really surprised that once I had them on I could really feel no movement of the boat at all, even when travelling along. I really liked the 'scene' and relaxing music. It was really interesting to see how it all works and how quickly it helped to trick your brain in to thinking that you weren't actually moving

See-LEVEL gave me a break from my sea sickness when nothing else would, and allowed me to focus instead on enjoying myself. The team have also been so willing to adapt to feedback and have therefore been able to improve an already great design. It is well worth giving it the time. - Rachael Foote
